At first, it seems shocking, but there are so many different tellings of Superman, why not? That JMS wrote it is a very good sign at least.
I'm far more afraid of the people quoted in that article -- yeeesh!
That Superman says he stands not just for America but the whole world is portrayed in this article like it's a bad thing. ?!
And Superman with glowing eyes?! Heave-- oh wait, he's always had that laser-eye beam thing. Never mind.
Yeah...I got a glimpse of the 'contemporary' man of steel last week.
Society is now so spiritually corrupt and empty that apparently even our heroes have to appear jaded and troubled -otherwise kids won't be able to feel a connection with them, or even understand what they're about.

Quite frankly, I want to know the person who was waiting for this kind of change to happen.

I thought we had Batman for this kind of thing.
Next thing you know Captain America will be a shell shocked cynical ex-pat living in Australia and punching kangaroos that remind him of Red Skull, and crying into a pillow shaped like his old side kick. Damn I should write this stuff down, I think I just found the plot for a new kids animated series! We will need some ethnic comedy relief though. Carlos Mencia! Gads I should do this for a living!
